Privacy Policy

DHRUV is an AI-powered study app for school students, available at dhruvlife.com and as an app. It is run by Dhruvlife Education Private Limited ("DHRUV", "we", "us"). Contact: parth@dhruvlife.com.

DHRUV is made for students in Class 9 & 10, who are usually under 18. A parent or guardian must agree to the student using DHRUV and to this policy. At sign-up we ask for a parent's or guardian's mobile number, and by creating an account the student confirms that their parent or guardian has agreed.

A parent or guardian can write to us at any time to see, correct or erase their child's data, or to close the account. We do not show advertising, and we do not use a student's data for any purpose other than their own studies on DHRUV.

When you sign up

• Full name, mobile number, email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash)

• Parent's or guardian's mobile number

• Date of birth

• School name, city and state

• Class and board, and the avatar (sticker) you pick

• A friend's referral code, if you used one; and your own referral code, which we make for you

• Your agreement to this policy, with the date, time, device type and network (IP) address at that moment

When you study

• Your subjects, your exams (dates, subjects and chapters) and the school test marks you enter

• The chapters you said you are confident in

• What you study and for how long: topics and chapters learned, flashcard answers (Got it / Need work), study time per chapter, and the missions you finish

• Your answers in Practice, Mock Test and Speed Round, including typed answers and photos of handwritten answers, and the marks and feedback they get

• What you write in Explain Back, and what you ask Ask DHRUV, with the replies and your 👍 / 👎

• Your daily study plan: what DHRUV suggested each day, why, and what you then did (the "plan record")

Points and community

• Dhruv Points, streak, level and badges

• Your rank on the leaderboard

• Ratings and reviews you write about DHRUV

• Bug reports and checking issues you send us, and our replies

Device and technical data

• Device and browser type, app version, and the times you use the app

• One sign-in at a time: we note which device you are signed in on, so a new sign-in signs the old device out

• A push-notification token, if notifications are allowed on your device

We do not collect your contacts, your location, or anything from other apps on your device.

Only to run DHRUV for you and to make it better:

• To make your daily study plan, Chapters to Revise and Weekly Goals from your exams, marks and progress

• To keep a plan record each day, so your plan gets better for you over time. If plan records are ever used to improve planning for everyone, they are made anonymous first

• To check your Practice and Mock answers and give marks and feedback

• To answer your doubts (Ask DHRUV) and give feedback on Explain Back

• To count your points, streak, level, badges and leaderboard rank

• To show the Parent Report on Analytics, made only from your own study numbers

• To send study reminders (push notifications) and account emails, such as sign-up and password codes

• To find and fix bugs, check the quality of AI answers and marks, and answer your messages

We never sell your data, never show ads, and never send promotional messages. We contact students and parents only about the app and their studies.

• Leaderboard: every student is on the leaderboard by default. In the app, other students see your name, avatar, class, board, school, city and points. You can switch the leaderboard off at any time in Settings. On the public website, the Today leaderboard shows the top students with their first name and last initial, avatar, class, board, city and points, never the school.

• Reviews: a review you write shows with your name, class, board and avatar as they were when you wrote it; in the app with your school and city, on the website with your city only. Very short reviews, and reviews with doubtful words, are kept hidden.

• Nothing else about you is shown to other students.

We share data only with the services that run DHRUV, and only what each one needs:

• Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage (your profile, study data and answer photos)

• Vercel: hosts the app and the website

• Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude): the AI that checks answers, answers doubts, gives Explain Back feedback and helps plan your day. We send only what the task needs: the question and your answer or photo, your doubt and the lesson it is about, or, for your plan, your class, exam dates and study numbers (progress, scores, flashcard and Explain Back results, study time). We never send your name, phone number or email to an AI service.

• Resend: sends our emails (sign-up and password codes) from noreply@dhruvlife.com

• Push services of your device or browser (such as Google or Apple): deliver notifications

When you use voice typing, your device's own speech service (for example Google on Android and in Chrome) turns your voice into text; DHRUV receives only the text. These services may process data on servers outside India. We may also share data if the law requires it.

• Your study data is kept while your account is open, so your plan and progress stay with you.

• Answer photos are deleted 7 days after a set is checked or closed. If you raise a checking issue, that set's photos are kept until the issue is resolved.

• Ask DHRUV shows your chats from the last 30 days. A chat you delete leaves your list but stays in our records for checking answer quality.

• Close Account (in Settings): your account is closed and taken off the leaderboard, and you can no longer sign in. Your mobile number, email and parent's number become free to make a new account. Your data is not erased by closing.

• Full erase: to erase all your data, email parth@dhruvlife.com from your account's email (or as the student's parent or guardian). We erase it within 30 days and keep only a note of the dates the account was made, closed and erased.

• All data travels encrypted (HTTPS).

• Passwords are stored only as a secure hash; we never see them.

• Database rules let each student reach only their own data; answer photos are private.

• No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

• See and correct: your details are in Settings; you can change your name, school and city there, and your email, mobile and parent's number with an email code.

• Stop notifications: in Settings, or in your device or browser settings.

• Leave the leaderboard: Settings → Leaderboard.

• Close your account: Settings → Close Account.

• Get a copy or erase your data: email parth@dhruvlife.com.

• Complaints: write to us first; we answer within 30 days. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

DHRUV uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember settings like dark mode and voice. We use no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels.

When we change this policy in a way that matters, we tell you in the app before the change applies. The latest version is always at dhruvlife.com/privacy.

This policy follows the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Courts in India decide any dispute.
